QUICK FACTS
Attraction overview
My Khe Beach is worth visiting if you want an easy beach experience that fits naturally into a Da Nang itinerary. For most travelers, about 1–3 hours is enough for a walk, a swim when conditions allow, and some time by the sea. For a first visit, do not look for one official My Khe Beach entrance: if you plan to swim, choose a managed area with visible safety buoys and active lifeguard coverage rather than simply following a generic map pin.
- A true city beach: My Khe is close enough to central Da Nang to fit into the beginning or end of a sightseeing day rather than demanding a dedicated beach day.
- Sunrise is the signature view: the beachfront faces east, making early morning the right time for sun-over-sea photography as well as walking, exercise and swimming.
- Managed swimming areas matter: Da Nang uses safety buoys, lifeguard coverage and beach warnings, so the best place to swim is the managed area operating when you arrive.
- Swimming and water sports are different use cases: areas for swimmers and areas for organised water activities are managed separately.
- Facilities depend on the access point: public beach facilities exist along the beachfront, but every access point should not be assumed to offer exactly the same setup.
My Khe Beach lies east of central Da Nang and is now within An Hai Ward. The beach is roughly 3–5 km from the city centre, which is one reason it works so well as an urban beach rather than an isolated resort destination.
You can start the day by the sea, return to the city for breakfast or sightseeing, and come back to the coast later without building the whole day around a beach excursion. If you stay near the beachfront, My Khe can become part of your daily routine rather than a one-off attraction.
Official and travel materials do not always use the name My Khe for exactly the same stretch of coastline. For visitors, the more useful question is not where My Khe technically begins or ends, but which beach access suits what you want to do.
Is My Khe Beach really worth visiting?
Yes — if you value convenience as much as the beach itself. My Khe is not special because it feels remote. Its advantage is almost the opposite: a broad beachfront sits beside a major city with hotels, restaurants, transport and other attractions only a short distance away.
That makes My Khe particularly useful on a short Da Nang trip. You do not need to spend half a day getting there, and you do not need to turn it into a full-day excursion. An early swim, a few hours between other plans, or a relaxed coastal stop can all work well.
If your real decision is whether My Khe is better for you than Non Nuoc, Nam O or another beach, see our Best Beaches in Da Nang guide rather than using this entity page as a comparison list.
Where should a first-time visitor access My Khe Beach?
This is more useful than asking where the My Khe Beach entrance is. If your hotel is along Vo Nguyen Giap, the simplest option is usually to use the managed swimming area nearest your accommodation, provided you can see safety buoys, beach guidance and active lifeguard coverage.
If you are coming from the city side and simply want an easy landmark for a taxi or ride-hailing app, the beachfront around East Sea Park (Bien Dong Park) on Pham Van Dong Street is a practical reference point on Da Nang’s central coastal corridor. That does not make East Sea Park the only official entrance to My Khe; it is simply an easy landmark for visitors who do not yet know the beachfront.
If you only want to walk or sit by the sea, the exact access point matters less. If you want to swim, the managed swimming zone matters more than the map pin.
Is My Khe Beach safe for swimming?
It should not be answered with a permanent yes or no. My Khe has lifeguards and managed swimming areas, but whether you should enter the water depends on the conditions when you arrive. Follow warning signs and lifeguard instructions, avoid entering the sea during unsafe weather or when swimming is restricted, and use areas marked by safety buoys.
A famous beach and a sunny day do not automatically mean the water is suitable for swimming. A practical rule is: choose My Khe for its location and beach experience; decide whether to swim based on the managed zone and actual sea conditions that day.
Swimming and water sports are two different decisions
Activities such as SUP, parasailing and jet skiing may be available along the central Da Nang beachfront, but you should not assume that every swimming area is also a water-sports zone. Da Nang’s coastal-management approach separates areas used for swimming from areas designated for recreational water activities.
If you simply want to swim, use a managed swimming area. If you want parasailing, jet skiing or a banana boat ride, find an operating service point and confirm availability, duration and the total price before paying. For activity-specific planning, see our My Khe Beach Water Sports guide.
What facilities should you expect at My Khe Beach?
As an urban beach, My Khe has more supporting infrastructure than many remote beaches, but not every access point is identical. Public foot-washing stations and other beach facilities are available along managed sections of the coast, while layout and operating condition can vary by location.
If you are visiting with young children, older relatives, or plan to continue sightseeing immediately after swimming, a managed access point with clearly visible facilities is usually a better choice than simply looking for the quietest stretch of sand.
Is My Khe Beach suitable for families?
My Khe can work very well for families because it is close to hotels, transport and urban services, but it should not be described as automatically safe for children.
For families, three practical factors matter more: lifeguard coverage, current sea conditions, and facilities and distance from your accommodation. Children should still be supervised directly by an adult whenever they are close to or in the water.
Do not leave valuables unattended while everyone swims
Do not leave bags, phones, wallets or other valuables unattended on the sand while the whole group goes into the sea. If everyone wants to swim, decide what to do with valuables before entering the water. Use an appropriate storage option where available, or make sure someone is responsible for the group’s belongings.
How much time should you spend at My Khe Beach?
For most first-time visitors, about 1–3 hours is a practical amount of time for one visit. It gives you enough time to walk, swim when conditions allow, and relax without turning an easily accessible city beach into an unnecessarily long stop.
For travelers with only two or three days in Da Nang, My Khe often works best as one part of the day. For ideas on what to do with the rest of the day, see Things to Do in Da Nang.
If your next question is whether to stay near My Khe or the Han River, how many days to spend in the city, or how Da Nang’s different areas fit together, use the Da Nang Destination Guide. Those are destination-level decisions rather than questions this attraction page should try to own.
Travelers who prefer a vehicle and guide for the main city sights can also look at the Da Nang City 1 Day Tour. Keep beach time separate if you want to spend several hours swimming or relaxing by the sea.

Opening hours, tickets and best time
Early morning is the strongest choice if you want sunrise over the sea, a walk before the heat builds, or a chance to see the beachfront during its local morning routine. Late afternoon is useful for cooler beach time. March to August is generally more favorable for a beach-focused visit, but the decision to swim should always follow current warning signs, lifeguard guidance and sea conditions rather than the season alone.

Practical tips for your visit
- If you plan to swim, look for safety buoys, beach guidance and active lifeguard coverage before entering the water.
- If you are coming from central Da Nang and do not know where to start, East Sea Park is an easy beachfront landmark; if you are already staying on the beach side, use a suitable managed access point close to your hotel.
- Visit early if you want sunrise over the sea. Late afternoon is cooler, but the sun sets toward the city.
- If you need foot-washing, changing or rinsing facilities, choose an access point where these facilities are clearly available rather than assuming every section of the coast is the same.
- Do not leave phones, wallets or valuable bags unattended on the sand while everyone goes swimming.
- Water-sports availability depends on the operating zone, provider and sea conditions that day.
