850,000 VND Is Not a Cable-Car-Only Ticket

The standard 2026 adult price is 850,000 VND. Children from 1 m to 1.4 m pay 700,000 VND, while children under 1 m enter free.

The useful part is what that price actually buys. The standard ticket covers the same-day return cable car plus entry to Aquatopia Water Park and Exotica Park. You do not need to buy Aquatopia separately.

If you see a cheaper or more expensive ticket online, compare the inclusions rather than the headline number. Third-party platforms sometimes add promotions such as drinks, Kiss Bridge access, airport transfers or show combinations, while Sun World’s standard published package does not automatically include every paid attraction in Sunset Town.

The official buffet combo is currently 1,150,000 VND for adults and 900,000 VND for children from 1 m to 1.4 m. It adds lunch at Mango Restaurant to the cable car and park access.

The Published Park Hours and Cable-Car Windows Are Not the Same Thing

Sun World’s live Hon Thom page on 24 August 2026 shows the complex operating from 09:30 to 17:00. That does not mean cabins necessarily depart continuously for the entire period.

The detailed 2026 cable-car notice publishes operating windows around 09:30–11:30, 13:30–14:00 and 15:30–17:30, with schedules subject to weather, maintenance and operational changes.

This is the single planning detail most worth checking again on your travel date. If you arrive at the terminal just after a service window closes, the wait can be much longer than the ride itself.

For that reason, do not build a tight airport transfer, ferry departure or fixed dinner reservation immediately around the last expected cable-car arrival.

The Ride Takes About 15 Minutes, but Budget 30 Minutes for the Process

Sun World lists the actual travel time at about 15 minutes. The system has 69 cabins, each designed for up to 30 passengers.

For itinerary planning, however, allow roughly 30 minutes from joining the boarding flow to walking out of the arrival station. Queues, ticket scanning, cabin loading and walking through the station make the practical time longer than the moving time.

Recent 2026 reviews regularly describe the ride as smooth, but also report that return queues become noticeably longer later in the afternoon.

Go Early If You Want the Cable Car to Be the Main Experience

The first morning operating period is usually the better choice for photography and a less rushed cabin experience. Recent visitors report lighter queues around the opening period and heavier return traffic as park attractions begin winding down.

Morning light also works well for the islands and water below. Window reflections still matter, so place your camera close to the glass rather than photographing from the middle of the cabin.

Cabins are shared. Buying a standard ticket does not guarantee a private gondola or a specific window seat, especially during busy holiday periods.

The Return Journey Is Where Most Timing Mistakes Happen

Visitors tend to spread out after arriving on Hon Thom, then reconverge near the cable-car station when Aquatopia, Exotica and beach activities finish. This creates a predictable late-afternoon return wave.

If you need to be back in Sunset Town by a specific time, do not wait until the final possible departure. Leaving one operating window earlier gives you more margin for a queue or a weather-related pause.

This is especially important for travelers who plan to combine Hon Thom with an evening show, restaurant reservation or onward transport.

If You Do Not Like Water Parks, Decide Whether 850,000 VND Still Works for You

The cable car is visually strong enough to be an attraction in its own right, but the pricing model assumes most visitors will also use the island’s entertainment facilities.

If Aquatopia and Exotica have no appeal for you, there are two sensible ways to plan the visit. Take an afternoon ride and treat Hon Thom as a short scenic excursion, or combine the ride with time in Sunset Town so the south-island journey still fills a useful part of the day.

Do not force yourself to spend six hours on Hon Thom simply because the ticket includes the parks. The best visit length depends on whether you are buying the package for the ride, the parks, or both.

If You Want Aquatopia, Bring Swimwear Before You Board

Aquatopia is included in the standard ticket, so arriving without swimwear is one of the easiest ways to waste part of what you paid for.

Lockers, changing facilities and towel-related services are available in the water-park area, but recent visitors report that changing areas and popular facilities become busy during peak periods.

Some water slides apply clothing, jewellery, height or safety restrictions. Do not assume every member of a group can use every slide simply because park admission is included.

Weather Can Change the Operating Plan

The attraction is engineered for regular tropical operation, but Sun World explicitly notes that cable-car schedules can change because of weather, maintenance or technical operations.

A cloudy day does not automatically ruin the ride; even recent rainy-season visitors still report enjoying the aerial view. Strong wind, heavy rain or maintenance is different because it can affect operations rather than just visibility.

On a marginal-weather day, check Sun World’s live schedule before leaving your hotel instead of relying on a screenshot from an older guide.

The Guinness Record Is More Specific Than the Marketing Phrase

Hon Thom is widely promoted as the world’s longest sea-crossing cable car. The precise Guinness World Records title is the longest non-stop three-rope cable car, measured at 7,899.9 metres.

The record was achieved by Sun Phu Quoc Ltd. on 3 January 2018, and the cable car opened to visitors shortly afterward. The route crosses the sea from southern Phu Quoc to Hon Thom, so the familiar “sea-crossing” description is useful geographically even though it is not the exact record title.

Half a Day or Full Day Depends on What You Will Actually Use

Allow around 3–4 hours for the cable car plus a selective Hon Thom visit. This works if you mainly want the views, a walk around the island complex and one or two attractions.

Allow 5–7 hours if Aquatopia, Exotica, lunch and beach time are all priorities. Families using the water park can easily fill most of the operating day.

The common mistake is planning “15 minutes each way” and overlooking the park, queues and service windows that actually determine the day’s length.

Take the First Morning Service for the Simplest Visit

The best default is the first morning operating window. It gives you more margin for a full Hon Thom visit, usually lighter outbound queues and better flexibility if weather or maintenance changes the schedule later.

If you only want the cable-car ride and have little interest in Aquatopia or Exotica, a later afternoon trip can be more efficient. In that case, protect your return time carefully because afternoon queues build as park visitors head back to Sunset Town.

Clear weather improves long-distance island views, but the more important planning question is whether the cable car is operating normally on your chosen date.

A Transport Link Built as a Destination

The Hon Thom cable car was developed by Sun Phu Quoc as part of the large tourism and entertainment complex in southern Phu Quoc.

On 3 January 2018, Guinness World Records measured the line at 7,899.9 metres and recognized it as the world’s longest non-stop three-rope cable car. The system opened to visitors in early 2018.

Unlike a mountain cable car whose main purpose is gaining elevation, Hon Thom crosses open sea and small islands of the An Thoi archipelago. The route therefore functions both as transport to Hon Thom and as one of the core attractions of the south-island tourism zone.

Practical Decisions That Prevent a Bad Hon Thom Day

• Check the cable-car schedule on the day. Park opening hours do not guarantee continuous cable operation.
• Use the first morning service if views and shorter queues matter most. Return traffic usually builds later in the day.
• Keep your ticket or QR code accessible. It may be needed again for park activities or the return journey.
• Bring swimwear from the mainland. Aquatopia is already included in the standard ticket.
• Do not assume third-party extras are part of the Sun World base ticket. Check Kiss Bridge, drinks, transfers, buffet and shows separately.
• Leave margin before the last return window. Queueing or weather can make a tight evening connection stressful.
• If you only want the cable-car view, plan a shorter afternoon visit rather than forcing a full park day.
