Stretching 68 metres along the east bank of the Han River on Tran Hung Dao Street, Son Tra District, the Da Nang Love Bridge (Cầu Tình Yêu) is one of the most distinctive romantic landmarks in Central Vietnam. Opened in 2015 as part of the DHC Marina development, the bridge was inspired by the love lock bridges of Europe — most famously Pont des Arts in Paris, Ponte Milvio in Rome, Hohenzollern Bridge in Cologne, and Luzhkov Bridge in Moscow — where generations of couples have marked their relationships by locking padlocks to the railings and throwing away the key. The bridge curves gently like a ribbon over a channel of the Han River and is lined with red heart-shaped lantern posts that light up at dusk, transforming the structure into a glowing backdrop for the city’s nightly riverfront scene. Directly below the white marble Carp-Turning-Dragon statue — one of Da Nang’s own symbols — and within clear sightlines of the Dragon Bridge, the Love Bridge punches well above its modest size in terms of atmosphere and photographic appeal.

Opening Hours

The Love Bridge is freely accessible around the clock, every day of the year, with no entrance fee. That said, visiting between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM is strongly recommended — this is when the heart lanterns are lit, the city’s skyline glows across the river, and the atmosphere shifts from pleasant to genuinely romantic. Daytime visits are fine for a quick stop, but the bridge is designed to be experienced at night.

The Love Bridge opened in mid-2015 as part of the DHC Marina project along the south bank of the Han River. The bridge measures 68 metres in length and 6 metres in width, with 2-metre pedestrian walkways on each side. Its defining visual — the gently curving profile that gives it the look of a ribbon rather than a straight crossing — was a deliberate design choice intended to differentiate it from Da Nang’s more utilitarian bridges. After dark, the red heart-shaped lantern posts that line both sides switch on and bathe the structure in warm light, making it one of the more reliably photogenic spots along the whole Han River waterfront.

The idea is straightforward: a couple writes or engraves their names on a padlock, clicks it shut on the bridge railing, and throws the key into the water below. The symbolism is clear — the relationship is locked, and the key is gone. No one can undo it.

At Da Nang’s Love Bridge, this ritual plays out against the backdrop of the illuminated Han River and the silhouette of Dragon Bridge glowing on the horizon. The padlocks here come in heart shapes, cast in metal and available in red, pink, gold, blue, and silver. Most stalls near the bridge offer an engraving service — names, dates, or a short message — done on-site while you wait. • Watch the Dragon Bridge fire show:On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, stay until 9:00 PM for a free 15–30 minute fire and water display from one of the best viewing positions in the city. The dragon breathes fire in bursts, then switches to high-pressure water jets. It’s brief, loud, and genuinely impressive.
• Explore Son Tra Night Market:After the fire show, walk 600 metres south to Son Tra Night Market (open until 10:30 PM) for fresh seafood, Quang Nam-style noodles, banh trang cuon thit heo (rice paper rolls with pork), street performances, and souvenir shopping.
